President's Letter

Spring, 2013

I, for one, am glad that spring is finally here. It seems that this winter has been particularly long.  The NCWGA is looking forward to the 64th North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship at Pinewood Country Club. The board and volunteers have been working extremely hard to make sure the championship is first class.  Pinewood is very excited about hosting this event and I  think you will be very impressed with the golf course and the facilities.

This is the beginning of the golf season for NCWGA.  Don't forget to have your club participate in our annual State Play Day tournaments.  The club winner with the lowest net winning score is the NCWGA State Play Day champion.  This is a great reason for your club to host another ladies tournament.

Also, don't forget to collect your pennies or dollars for our "Pennies Per Stroke" campaign for junior girls golf.  This is a fun and easy way to raise money for the junior programs around the state.

Our Team Net Tournament made some changes that were very successful in 2012.  We moved the date to August and moved the venue to the Country Club of Whispering Pines.  We will be back at CCWP on August 24th and 25th.  Please put this fun event on your calendar.  There is always lots of laughter and great fellowship at this tournament.

Please visit our homepage to see about these events and other great things that are going on within the NCWGA.  As I have said numerous times before, it is a great honor and privilege to serve as President of the association.  This board works very hard for the women golfers of North Carolina.  We are fortunate to have such committed board members that truly love the game.

Thank you also to our member clubs, individual members, and the Carolinas Golf Association for supporting the North Carolina Women's Golf Association and our mission of supporting and promoting women's golf in North Carolina.

Wishing you many birdies,

Donna Johnson

President, NCWGA
