| The North Carolina Women's Golf Association promotes golf for junior girls in North Carolina. The main objective of the NCWGA's effort is to support programs which benefit the largest number of girls. With the generous assistance and support from NCWGA member clubs, individual members, and golf professionals, the NCWGA provides equipment, lessons, and information about tournaments and golf programs to junior girls. |
Tournament Support
The NCWGA is proud to help fund this WCGA Junior Girls Championship, which is open to girls who are rising sophomores and younger, and who live in the Carolinas. This tournament has been conceived with the intention of targeting girls at a younger age and exposing them to golf.

LPGA-USGA GIRLS GOLF
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf provides an opportunity for girls, ages 7 to 17, to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships and experience competition in a fun, supportive environment, preparing them for a lifetime of enjoyment with the game. Girls are learning values inherent to the game of golf, such as practice, respect, perseverance, and honesty.
Girls are not only treated to the fundamentals (grip, swing, posture, etc.) but they learn valuable tips on etiquette, rules and history of the game. Whether the goal is to compete at the highest levels or to play on a high school golf team, or simply to be outdoors and have fun with friends, girls are gaining more than just athletic skill.
LPGA USGA Girls Golf is setting a priority for the promotion of golf among young girls. This program is providing girls from all walks of life the opportunity to play golf together and at the same time preparing them to meet a challenging world with confidence.
Each site is coordinated on the local level by a "site director". These directors can be LPGA or PGA professionals, USGA or EWGA members, Girl Scout leaders, members of local golf associations, moms, or dads – anyone who supports growing the game of golf for girls. LPGA USGA Girls Golf programs must have an LPGA or PGA professional leading the instruction.

Penny Per Stroke
A few years ago the NCWGA started a program to raise money through our member clubs called "Penny Per Stroke." This is how it works: if your LGA would like to participate, you would chose one ladies’ play day during the year which you would designate as a fund raiser for North Carolina junior girls’ golf. On that day, each participant would donate a penny for each stroke of her score. The money would then be sent to our treasurer to be deposited into our junior girls’ account. With this program, and other donations, we are able to offer some financial help with tournament and clinic expenses.
Checks to help support North Carolina junior girls' golf can me made to: NCWGA, Inc. Please mail to our Treasurer:
Pam Congelosi 310 Loblolly Lane Vass, NC 28394
How to Get Help
Please contact our Junior Girls Committee of the NCWGA if you need assistance with a junior girls tournament or clinic. The Committee will consider all requests. Letters of request should be submitted to: Donna Johnson, NCWGA Junior Girls’ Committee, 1184 Cedar Creek Dr., Asheboro, NC 27205. You may also email the Junior Girls Committee.
