The 57th North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship will be played June 12-15, 2006 at Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, North Carolina.

The 56th North Carolina Women’s Amateur Championship was played at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina June 20-23, 2005.  The Championship was contested over 54 holes on the Donald Ross course, which also hosted the 33rd N.C. Women’s Amateur Championship in 1982.  Two sets of tees were utilized during the tournament by 111 competitors, but the Championship tees played from 5858 yards. Burlington native Jessie Vincent, a sophomore at North Carolina State University, set a tournament record for the lowest score ever shot during the Championship by posting a nine under par 64 during the second round.  Her two day total of 137, also a tournament record, earned her medalist honors, as she easily bested the previous record for lowest medalist ever of 140 shot by Stephanie Neill Harner in 1991.

The defending champion, Debbie Adams, gamely defended her title and posted a hole-in-one on the 155 yard 12th hole in the final round.  However, the final day, and the tournament belonged to Wake Forest University junior Maggie Simons of Raleigh.  Playing in the final group and beginning the day three shots behind, Maggie played steady, flawless golf to shoot even par 73.  Maggie’s three day total of 213, only one shot more than the low 54 hole total set by Page Marsh in 1985,  gave her a two stroke victory over Jessie Vincent, and earned Miss Simons the title.
