North Carolina Women’s Golf Association

Team Net Tournament
May (15) 16-17, 2021
Carolina Trace Country Club, Sanford NC

Dear Fellow Golfers,

We asked, you answered and we (hopefully) delivered!

You said you could live without the “same old same old” Tee gifts. So instead of a tee gift and to spread the idea that this weekend is all about having a good time, we have decided to kick off the weekend’s activities with a dinner social Saturday evening May 15, 2021. They have another event that evening so dinner needs to be at 5pm. We will be in the Jones Pub and enjoy your choice of a grilled Chicken sandwich or bean burger that comes highly recommended. Sides will be sweet potato fries and pasta salad. If you are unable to join us for dinner Saturday you will receive a ticket for one adult beverage Monday at lunch. Adult Beverages will be available at your own cost with one exception. More to come - read on!

Lunch Monday will be in the Hearthstone room immediately after play, and you will enjoy a plated meal of your choice between the following:

  1. Pan Seared Salmon Filet with a lemon butter sauce, roasted potatoes, and glazed carrots.

  2. Sauteed Chicken breast with tomatoes, mushrooms, and tarragon white wine sauce. Roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus.

  3. A Vegetarian platter consisting of three cheese eggplant roulade with roasted corn, red peppers, and asparagus in an Italian red sauce.

  4. All lunches will come with a Spinach Salad with feta, diced onion, bacon, and a citrus vinaigrette.

  5.  All lunches will be served with dinner rolls, tea, lemonade, coffee and water. Adult beverages will be available for an additional charge. Unless you could not make it to the dinner Saturday, in which case you will receive a coupon good for one adult beverage before you hit the road home!

VERY IMPORTANT—you MUST make a choice of one of these entrees on the entry form! This is a critical step in the process if you want to get fed :)

You also said you would prefer to play the Tournament in the Spring in the Sandhills area and Voila, you got it! The weather should be beautiful and warmer than where half of us will be coming from. And the course will be in great shape as always. Our kind host, Raymond Reyes, PGA Assistant GM/PGA Professional, has generously offered to allow us to play both courses which will be a real treat. He also has allowed us to play a practice round any day during the week prior to and including Saturday. This should benefit both local and out of area participants. The practice round will be only $50 and payable to the club directly when you play. You can call the pro shop at 919-499-5121 to book your practice round.

The two days of the tournament are Sunday May 16, and Monday May 17. The format remains the same as previous years. The winning team will post the best of 2 net best balls of the 4 women on the team for each day. And 95% of the USGA handicap will be used. Ties will be played off from the scorecard using the USGA method.

The golf, dinner Saturday, and lunch after the tournament Monday will be $130 per NCWGA member. There will be no Pay Pal this year and a team check of $520 or 4 checks of $130 each should be included with the entry form (attached) when the captain sends the team entry in. If you are an individual and your course has not joined the NCWGA, please include an additional $15 to your $130 entry fee, for a total of $145. We have also re-designed the form so there is more room for your name and email address. PLEASE PRINT or preferably type in the needed info on the entry form. The entries open February 1st and close May 1st.

By now you must have noticed the emphasis on fantastic food and adult beverages in addition to the great golf we will be playing at a terrific venue. Here’s the last thing we are delivering to you in hopes of adding to the fun. More players!! We are offering a bribe for you to recruit more players/teams to this event!!! The deal is the person that recruits and gets the most NEW individuals to sign up gets to drink on our dime at the dinner Saturday night! There will be a place on the entry form for these players to identify you as their “recruiter”. To assist you in this effort we have attached flyers to post in your Ladies locker room or wherever you see fit. Just add your name to the form so you can be identified as the “recruiter” and maybe win the liquid prize Saturday night for your job well done!

We hope that you will be pleased with these efforts at improving an already great event and that they will encourage even more of our girlfriends in golf to enjoy a terrific weekend with each other.

Hope to see you all soon!!! Spread the word! Pass on the information letter, entry form and

announcement sheet to post in your club’s locker room, to everyone that you would like to spend the weekend playing golf with and sharing some fine meals and beverages with as well!
